The No.1 Middle School of Zhangjiagang City is located at No.22, Shazhou Road,Yangshe Town,Zhangjiagang City. It has profound culture and has cultivated many talents for the society. It is a well-known school which has a long history of more than one hundred years.

In 1558, Guo Hongfei, Ye Tianqing, Tong Langu and Guo Zhaoxiong founded the private school named “Yu Wu Wei Chun”in Tongshantang. They donated their money and land to the school as the foundation. It was renamed “Old Jiyang Private School”in Qing Dynasty. In 1894, the cover area of it was enlarged and it was renamed “Liangfeng Academy”. Zhang Shaoqun was employed as the headmaster who started his teaching here. In 1905, the Academy was changed into Liangfeng Elementary School. In 1925, it was renamed “Liangfeng Middle School” after adding the junior middle school. Since 1949, its name changed many times, from “Liangfeng Middle School of Jiangyin County”to “No.1 Middle School of Shazhou county”. In 1986, it was called Liangfeng Middle School of Zhangjiagang City. In 1992, Liangfeng Senior Middle School was founded on the basis of it. At the same time, the No.1 Middle School of Zhangjiagang City was built on the former site on August 28^th of 1993. In 2000, the Zhangjiagang Senior Middle School was established on the basis of it. From then on, the No.1 Middle School of Zhangjiagang City is a junior middle school which belongs to the Municipal Education Bureau.

It sets the aim of paving the way to the happiness for life and being responsible for the nationality. It has achieved a characteristic teaching as a result of deepening the reform of teaching. It is devoted to inheriting the culture of Liangfeng Adademy. It has launched a series of activities. It positively advocates the idea of “Sunny Moral Education”and “Sunny Physical Education” which aims at realizing the idea of “sharing the sunshine and storm and growing healthily”. As one of the first schools of realizing the ecological class, it has launched many activities about teaching and research with the No.1 Middle School of Changshu City and the No.1 Middle School of Taicang City, which has exerted a great influence in Suzhou. As one of the first experiment schools of “digital teaching”, it has successfully held many kinds of digital teaching activities. What’s more, the observation meeting of digital learning has achieved a great success. It is devoted to studying and carrying out “ecological teaching”. The magazine, Middle School Teaching of Jiangsu Education reported the teaching reform of our school in the second edition of 2014.
