The University of Adelaide

The University of Adelaide (informally Adelaide University) is a public university located in Adelaide, South Australia. It is a member of the Group of Eight and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. The university is also a member of the Sandstone universities, and was rated as a five-star university in Australia. Established in 1874, it is the third-oldest university in Australia and the oldest university in South Australia.

Adelaide University's Waite campus has the largest agricultural complex in the southern hemisphere, and has created the world's second-largest specialty in wine cultivation and brewing. 70% of Australian wines are produced in South Australia. In the QS World University Rankings in 2019, the school's education, medicine, and law rank among the top 50 in the world, the accounting and finance ranks among the top 100 in the world. The school's business school is accredited by AACSB.

The University of Adelaide has harvested many scientific achievements and honors. It is associated with five Nobel laureates and 108 Rhodes scholars by 2019. Two Singapore presidents also graduated from the school. Other achievements: the university created the world's first genetically controlled organism that can be placed in the natural environment; invented the world's first visual computer chip; developed the world's first car videophone and trained Australia's first astronaut, etc.
